Feel the echo of history
Lucy Hotel first opened in 1955, fulfilling the vision of Michael Plataniotis to create a luxury hotel in Chalkida.
M. Plataniotis was born in the city of Lamia in 1890. As a young man, he left for East Africa searching for a better future. There, he became a successful businessman, through rope and coffee plantations.
Even though he wasn’t from Chalkida, this city had become a landmark in his life. Therefore, he decided to create a hotel, according to European standards, able to accommodate the «high» society of the time, leading to a new era for the city. The hotel was named after his only daughter, Lucy.
The first years
The newspapers of the time lauded the hotel for both its luxurious standards and its prestigious clientele.
Politicians, royals, artists and other prominent personalities from Greece and abroad have been accommodated at the hotel, contributing to its unique reputation throughout the years.
The atmosphere of that time has also been indelibly imprinted in films shot in the hotel’s premises.
